As a World Champion rower and three-time Olympian, decorated with a silver medal at the Athens Games in 2004, Cath Bishop spent nearly 10 years embedded in a high-performance winning culture.
Thinking she’d leave that world behind when she moved into diplomacy, Cath discovered that whether you’re in the classroom or the boardroom, the world is obsessed with winning.
And yet, Cath says there are countless stories from winners who’ve been left feeling empty inside. Because winning, it turns out, is only a fleeting moment in time that often isn’t tied to anything of lasting value.
In fact, while winning is often regarded as the pinnacle of driving performance, it can also kill collaboration, lead to poor decision-making, and even hold us back.
So, is there another way we should view success? Cath thinks so and has written a fascinating book that dives into the idea of the long win, a concept we should all embrace.
Why you should tune in
Cath’s ideas will challenge you to see how narrow our interpretation of winning and losing can be and how our biases pop up in everything from how we educate our children to the way we run our businesses. You’ll also learn how Cath’s three Cs can help you move from an ego-led ‘win at all costs’ mentality to something that feels more compassionate, collaborative and purpose driven.
