Growing up on a council estate in Manchester and attending what was labelled the second-worst school in the country at the time didn’t stop Claire Hoang from dreaming big.
In fact, despite her parents, who arrived as refugees unable to speak English, angling for her to go after a steady job that paid the bills, Claire was encouraged by a teacher to try and break into TV – one of the most challenging professions to get a foot in the door.
